Did you know that diabetes is a MAJOR health problem in our area? The percentage of adult Oregonians with diagnosed diabetes has increased significantly in the past decade. An estimated 178,000 adult Oregonians have been diagnosed and another 64,800 have the disease but don’t know it. We are seeing an increase in obesity in both our youth and adults, which is a major contributor to the disease.

YOU CAN HELP BRING AWARENESS OF THIS FAST-GROWING DISEASE.

The South Coast Diabetes Fun Walk is coming on Saturday, May 19th at Bandon City Park, rain or shine. The Walk starts at 10 a.m. and there are prizes and entertainment to follow. The walk is sponsored locally by the South Coast Diabetes Association, Bay Area Hospital, Southern Coos Health District and North Bend Medical Center.

The South Coast Diabetes Association focuses on helping our community through awareness and education about this disease.

100 percent of the profits stay locally to help people with diabetes with medications, diabetic supplies, education, a camp and other health-related needs.
