Coos Bay, OR, June 16, 2021: Bay Area Hospital’s former Oncologist Robert Bolin, MD, is suffering from terminal cancer. Funds are being raised by the community for a bronzed statue in memoriam at the Cancer Center. The Bolin family has organized a fundraiser through GoFundMe to complete the memorial. They need to raise a total of $6,000 to have Dr. Bolin’s image sculpted and bronzed. Bay Area Hospital is pleased to announce a $3,000 matching contribution towards this goal.

Dr. Bolin played a significant role in bringing high quality cancer care to Oregon’s south coast. In the past, patients would travel as far as Eugene and Portland to receive treatment. Recognizing the need for local care, Dr. Bolin sought to establish the Bay Area Hospital Cancer Center. The Center provides modern, comprehensive cancer treatment in a one-stop environment. Dr. Bolin’s vision has resulted in an incredible gift to the community.

“My father’s lifelong desire was to lessen suffering and promote healing,” said Dr. Bolin’s son, Troye. “He made a lasting impact on our community and we want to honor the legacy he’s leaving behind.”
