Our labor, delivery, and postpartum unit is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and family-centered birth experience. With seven spacious birth rooms—including one equipped with a jacuzzi tub —we prioritize your comfort and care. Additional rooms are available for prenatal testing, recovery, and postpartum care, ensuring that you receive the personalized attention you deserve.

Comprehensive Prenatal Services

We offer a range of prenatal services, including:

  • Fetal monitoring and obstetric triage
  • Unit tours during classes or by appointment
  • Surgical pre-op appointments for scheduled cesarean sections
  • Assistance with creating a personalized birth plan. We encourage expectant parents to complete a birth plan, as it helps communicate your preferences for labor and delivery with our team.
  • Childbirth education classes. We suggest you take these classes in your third trimester, finishing at 37 weeks or before. See the list of our childbirth education classes and call to sign-up today!

Personalized Labor and Birth Experience

Our compassionate staff is here to create a calming and supportive environment, ensuring that you feel empowered and supported throughout your birth experience. We focus on well-rounded care that meets your physical, emotional, and personal preferences for childbirth. Our comfort measures, include position changes and other non-medicated pain relief, such as birth balls and water therapy; IV pain medication and Epidural anesthesia.

Postpartum and Newborn Care

Following delivery, our experienced nurses are dedicated to caring for both you and your baby. We encourage 24/7 rooming-in to enhance bonding, while also offering a nursery should you need it.

  • Lactation Support – Our specialized lactation consultants are available to assist with breastfeeding during your stay. If you need additional support after discharge, outpatient lactation support and consultations can be arranged.
  • Comprehensive Discharge Preparation – Before you leave, we ensure you feel confident in caring for your newborn, providing education and resources to support your transition home.
  • Car Seat Safety – Our certified car seat technicians are available to ensure your car seat is properly fitted and installed. They can answer any questions you may have and provide guidance on keeping your baby safe on the road.
  • Postpartum Follow-Up – After you go home, we provide a follow-up phone call to check in on your recovery, answer any questions, and offer additional support as needed.

Other Services for Women

The Family Birth Center also specializes in caring for women undergoing gynecological surgeries or assisting with gynecological medical needs. We have found that by keeping this unit adjacent to maternity services, we are better able to care for women’s unique needs. Registered nurses educated and specializing in women’s health will assist you in your recovery. Our focus is holistic, with the aim of providing excellent physical and emotional care.

Childbirth Education Classes

All classes are free and held in the Myrtle room on the first floor of the hospital. To register, call 541-269-8258 for more information. We suggest taking these classes in your third trimester, finishing by 37 weeks. (Preferably the month prior to your due date). For class dates visit our Patient Classes and Support Groups.

Infant CPR and Newborn Care – All the basics of baby care. Learn about skin and cord care, bathing, diapering, and methods to calm crying babies. We also cover car seat safety, child-proofing your home, avoiding germs, pets and sibling concerns, immunizations, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and infant CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Breastfeeding: The Bestfeeding – for expectant moms and their support persons , learn basic breastfeeding techniques, how your body makes milk, and how your milk helps your baby grow and thrive.

One Day Labor Class – All About About Labor and Comfort Measures. Comprehensive information about the stages of labor as well as comfort measures for labor, birth, and postpartum recovery.

Visiting Hours and Information

The Family Birth Center is located on the second floor, and we welcome visitors from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, except for during labor.

We recognize that childbirth is a deeply personal and transformative experience and having loved one’s present is an essential part of that journey. Family, friends, and designated support people provide emotional and physical encouragement during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.

For the comfort and safety for all our patients we ask that visitors follow these guidelines:

  • Use the intercom to be granted access to the unit
  • If you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cough, or other contagious illness, please postpone your visit
  • Wash and sanitize your hands upon entering and leaving a patient’s room to help prevent the spread of germs
  • Respect the patient’s need to rest and be mindful of noise levels
  • Respect the birthing person’s needs and preferences
  • Maintain a calm and supportive atmosphere
  • No children under the age of 12 are allowed unless a sibling of the baby (must be always supervised by an adult other than the patient). Siblings do not count toward the visitor limits.

These guidelines are subject to change and we reserve the right to ask visitors to leave if they interfere with the safety and quality of patient care. Follow staff guidance regarding the number of support people allowed in the room:

  • Outpatient & Triage: We ask for only 1 support person/visitor
  • Labor and up to 2 hours after Delivery: We ask for no more than 4 support people/visitors at a time in the patient’s room. Additional visitors may wait in the waiting room, and they may interchange.
  • Postpartum (at least 2 hours after delivery): We do not limit the number of support people/visitors during normal visiting hours.
  • Operating Room (OR): Only 1 support person is allowed in the OR.
  • Overnight stays: Only 1 support person over the age of 18 is allowed to stay overnight (no age restriction if the overnight person is the father of the baby). Proper sleeping accommodations are available for 1 person. Sleeping on the floor is not permitted. A waiting room is available, but we ask you do not use this area as a sleeping space as it is open to all visitors.
