The Bay Area Cancer Center is accredited as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Care Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Nationally, only 25 percent of hospital programs are accredited. Of these, only 14 percent are accredited as Comprehensive Cancer Programs. The Tumor Registry is also accredited by the Commission on Cancer.

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)

We have been accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation And Quality Program. Bariatric surgery accreditation not only promotes uniform standard benchmarks, but also supports continuous quality improvement. MBSAQIP recognizes those facilities that implement defined standards of care, documents their outcomes, and participates in regular reviews to evaluate their bariatric surgical programs.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine

American Academy of Sleep Medicine

In 2014, our Sleep Study Center was accredited for the next five years through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The AASM standards look to ensure that the highest quality of care is delivered to patients with sleep disorders. “More than 2,500 sleep centers have achieved accreditation through the AASM. Since 1977, the AASM has accredited sleep facilities utilizing the AASM Standards for Accreditation of Sleep Disorders Centers. The continued quality of these requirements has made AASM facility accreditation the gold standard by which the medical community and the public evaluate sleep medicine facilities.”

College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation

College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation

Our medical laboratory and pathology services are accredited by the College of American Pathologists. Their accreditation process utilizes the most scientifically rigorous customized checklist requirements. Among other things, accreditation helps our laboratory maintain accuracy of test results and helps to ensure accurate patient diagnosis. On-site inspections occur every two years using CAP ACCREDITATION CHECKLISTS to assess compliance with program requirements.

American College of Radiology Mammography Imaging Services Accreditation

Our Women’s Imaging mammography program is accredited through the American College of Radiology accreditation process. The ACR has accredited more than 38,000 facilities. The three-year renewable status includes an ongoing process for self-improvement. Accreditation highlights our commitment to providing the safest and best quality care possible.

Our Continuing Medical Education program is accredited by the California Medical Association and follows all Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) standards. Accredited institutions are shown to be promoting high-quality health care through effective educational activities.

Chest Pain Center Accreditation

Chest Pain Center Accreditation

We are accredited as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI: Hospitals awarded this designation have Primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year. They also have a call team made up of the cardiac cath lab staff and an interventional cardiologist who arrive to the facility within 30 minutes of STEMI activation and have mapped their STEMI processes to maximize efficiencies which lead to quicker treatment and improved outcomes.

Level III Trauma Center

Level III Trauma Center

We are certified by the state as a Level 3 trauma center. The Oregon Trauma Program ensures that high-quality community resources are available to respond to individuals who are traumatically injured in Oregon by assuring an integrated statewide system of resources, including establishment of trauma regions and designation of trauma care hospitals. A Level III trauma center provides comprehensive inpatient services to those patients who can be maintained in a stable or improving condition without specialized care. An in-house multidisciplinary trauma resuscitation team is immediately available upon arrival of the patient to the emergency department. A board-certified general surgeon trained in ATLS is on-call and available to the patient. Level III centers also provide community education, outreach, and injury prevention programs.

2023 Get With The Guidelines® – Resuscitation Silver Quality Achievement Award

Bay Area Hospital has received the 2023 Resuscitation Silver Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines. The Resuscitation program was developed to help save lives of patients who experience in-hospital cardiac arrests by consistently following the most up-to-date research-based guidelines for treatment as outlined by the American Heart Association. Guidelines include following protocols for patient safety, medical emergency team response, effective and timely resuscitation (CPR) and post-resuscitation care.

American Heart Association’s Workforce Well-being Scorecard

The American Heart Association’s new Workforce Well-being Scorecard is designed to help employers evaluate the culture of health and well-being within their workforces to identify gaps and determine how their progress stacks up to peer organizations. Studies have shown that workforce health and well-being programs that are well-designed, fully implemented, and rigorously evaluated can lead to better employee health, productivity, and retention.
