Coos Bay, OR, May 25, 2021: Bay Area Hospital is excited to announce the hiring of Lee Saltzgaber, MD, as the new Chief Medical Officer starting July 6, 2021. Dr. Saltzgaber is an experienced Certified Physician Executive, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a Certified Professional in both Healthcare Quality as well as Patient Safety. He has a passion for team building and a 25-year history of success in leading physicians, healthcare professionals and support staff for Payer and Provider, Government and Private, Profit and Non-Profit organizations to improve the health and wellness of several communities. Dr. Saltzgaber is an action-driven leader—engaging all stakeholders and elevating morale across organizations.

Dr. Saltzgaber has earned multiple degrees that include: Bachelor of Science, University of Oregon; Doctor of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences; Master of Public Health, University of Texas; Master of Medical Management, Marshall School of Business (University of Southern California); as well as completing residencies in Family Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, and Preventive Medicine

Lee and his wife, Junko, have lived in Japan twice, Germany, Guam, and 13 different states. Lee and Junko have three children: Alyssa, in Australia; and Phyllicia and Sean, in New York. Lee is an alumnus and avid Duck fan who loves the outdoors, while Junko is an avid tennis player and Penn State fan.
